కరుణశ్రీ పద్య రూపంలో పలికించిన ` కుంతీ విలాపం' మాదిరిగా ఉంది నేడు రాష్ట్రంలో వివిధ పార్టీల పరిస్థితి. 
గెలిచి తీరతాం! అన్న ధీమా కాస్తా
గెలవకపోతామా! అన్న ఆశగా మారి 
గెలుస్తామా! అన్న సంశయ రూపం ధరిస్తే - 
మిగిలేది కుంతీ విలాపమే!

కోరిన వరాలిచ్చు కొండంత దేవుళ్ళలాంటి వాళ్ళు  కాదు ఓటర్లు.  వాళ్ళ నాడి కనిపెట్టడం రాజకీయ పార్టీలను పుట్టించిన బ్రహ్మదేవుడి తరం కూడా కాదు. వాళ్ళ మూడ్‌ ఎప్పుడు ఎలా మారుతుందో ఎవ్వరూ చెప్పలేరు. అలాగని గాలి వాటం కాదు. సమయం వచ్చినప్పుడు కీలెరిగి వాత పెట్టడంలో వారికి వారే సాటి. ఈ పాటి వాస్తవం ఎరగబట్టే పార్టీ నేతల్లో ఇంత గుబులు.

పైకి ఎంత ధీమాగా ఉన్నా -  బింకంగా కనబడ్డా - 
లోలోపల ఏదో తెలియని గుబులు వారి మనసులను ఏదో మూల తొలుస్తూనే వుండాలి! 
ఇది ఇలా ఎందుకు జరిగింది? అన్న ప్రశ్న  ఎంత స్వాభావికమైనదో -
అలా జరిగి వుంటే - ఇలా జరిగేది కాదేమో అన్న భావన కూడా అంత స్వాభావికమైనదే! 
‘ఆ నాడు సర్కారు ఎక్స్ ప్రెస్ కాస్త  లేటుగా వచ్చి – నా  పెళ్ళి చూపులకు మీరు మరికాస్త ఆలస్యంగా వచ్చివుంటే - మా నాన్న ఎంచక్కా నాకు ఆ భీమవరం సంబంధమే ఖాయం చేసివుండేవాడు' అన్నదట ఓ ఇల్లాలు శోభనం రోజున కట్టుకున్న మొగుడితో. 
అలాగే - భవనం వెంట్రామ్‌ గారు ముఖ్యమంత్రిగా ప్రమాణస్వీకారం చేసిన రోజు, తన స్నేహితుడు, సహాధ్యాయి అయిన   ఎన్‌. టీ. రామారావు గారిని  రాజభవన్‌కు ఆహ్వానించకపోయి వున్నా, లేదా వెంకట్రామ్‌ గారి సలహా మేరకు రామారావుగారికి  కాంగ్రెస్‌ అధిష్టానం రాజ్యసభ సభ్యత్వం ఇచ్చి వున్నా  - అసలు తెలుగుదేశం పార్టీ పుట్టేదే కాదన్నాడొక రాజకీయ పండితుడు. 
మరో విశ్లేషకుడు మరో అడుగుముందుకువేసి - డిప్యూటీ స్పీకర్‌కు బదులుగా - చంద్రశేఖరరావుకు చంద్రబాబు తన మంత్రివర్గంలో స్థానం కల్పించి ఉంటే తెలంగాణా రాష్ట్ర సమితి ఆవిర్భవించి  వుండేదే కాదు పొమ్మన్నాడు.

రాజశేఖరరెడ్డి ఆకస్మిక మరణం తరువాత జగన్ మోహన రెడ్డి కోరుకున్న ముఖ్యమంత్రి పీఠం కాకపోయినా ఏదో ఒక ఈశాన్య రాష్ట్రానికి పార్టీ ఇంచార్జ్ గా వేసివున్నా  రాష్ట్రంలో రాజకీయ పరిస్తితి మరో రకంగా వుండేదని ఇంకో పరిశీలకుడు అభిప్రాయపడ్డాడు.

కుంతి పడ్డ మధనం కూడా ఇలాటిదే.
అందుకే మన జనం వేదాంతాన్ని నమ్ముకున్నది 
ఆదీ అంతం అంటూ లేని ఆ వేదాంతం చెప్పేదేమిటంటే -  

‘కానున్నది కాకమానదు. కానిది కానే కాదు’

రోట్లో తలదూర్చిన తరువాత రోకటి పోటుకు వెరవకూడదు.

ఈ సూత్రం పార్టీలకే కాదు ప్రజలకు కూడా వర్తిస్తుంది.

Kadapa bypolls: Chasing a mirage –Bhandaru Srinivas Rao (I.I.S.)

Once again politics in Andhra heated up with the by polls to Kadapa Parliament as well Pulivendla assembly constituency elections drawing closer. The by polls necessitated with the resignations of Y S Jaganmohan Reddy and his mother Vijayalakshmi, resigning from the Congress party.

Main opposition Telugu Desam, which never won or come closer to the winner in these two constituencies, which are considered as bastion of former chief minister Dr Y S Rajasekhara Reddy, who died in a chopper crash, could find a strong candidate in the form of Dr M V Mysoora Reddy to field against YS Jaganmohan Reddy, the leader of newly formed YSR Congress Party. After the late leader Rajasekhara Reddy, it’s Mysoora, who got some hold on the district politics. Ironically, the Congress, which could lure yesteryear YSR arch rival family members – Kandula brothers from TDP – however, failed to make them accept the candidature to take on young scion Jaganmohan Reddy. Whatever may be reasons for Kandula brothers’ back out, it certainly have its bearing on the poll outcome. As a result, the Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy had to thrust upon the responsibility to one of his cabinet colleague and sworn enemy of YSR family, Dr.D.L.Ravindrareddy to accept the challenge. Thus far, the Kadapa parliament by poll becomes an interesting political event which will have a bearing on future polarization of political parties.

For Congress and the Chief Minister Kiran Kumar Reddy, the Kadapa parliament by poll is the biggest challenge that they might have faced since the formation of the state, though Pulivendula assembly by poll too may be equally important. Media reports also indicate that the party high command reportedly told the chief minister during his recent visit to Delhi that ‘only a victory for the ruling party in the two seats would reflect his abilities to lead the party till the 2014 general and assembly elections’. At Pulivendla, the Congress could find a potential candidate within the family – that’s YSR’s brother Vivekananda Reddy.

The by-polls becomes interesting as the Congress as well the newly born YSR Congress headed by Jaganmohan Reddy claiming they are the true inheritors of late leader’s legacy. The ruling Congress and its Chief Minister had taken the by-polls seriously and entrusted the job drafting more than half a dozen Ministers and two dozen MLAs for the official nominee’s victory by hook-or-crook. Each assembly segment of Kadapa parliament constituency will be headed by a Minister to oversee the party nominee’s prospects meticulously. Though, there might be such instances in the past, but this time around, for the ruling Congress its ‘perform or perish’ kind of a situation.

But `aam admi` wonders, what the election commission is doing when such drama being enacted right before its eyes on Andhra political stage? In democracy, should such things be allowed to happen? How can the state administration be brought to standstill, may be for a week or so, by deploying more than half a dozen important ministers, camping in Kadapa, ignoring the rest of the state peoples` problems? Aren’t the rulers making ‘democracy’ a ‘mockery’ to score a political point or two against their rivals?

This apart, look at the Congress nominee, who holds a cabinet rank, unwilling to relinquish his office, still wants to be party candidate and contest? What sort of morals the Congress would like to set? Contrary to Ravindra Reddy, the same party nominee from Pulivendla, Vivekanandareddy was right when he insisted the Chief Minister to accept his resignation first and let him go ahead to contest the polls.

In these particular by-polls, it’s the Telugu Desam, which has some relatively more moral right to ask people to elect its nominee. Reason: The party had been expressing apprehensions from time immemorial that YSR family had established their fiefdom in Kadapa and never allowed free-and-fair polls, to give an opportunity for the voter to exercise his or franchise vote according to their conscience. Moreover, the party is also known to unleash aggressive campaign against YSR and his family. Thus far, its decision to fight polls against ‘honesty and dishonesty’ may be more convincing and acceptable. As far holding free and fair polls, it’s the responsibility of the party in power and the election commission. The TDP has no moral right to crib as YSR and his family members won hands down, if not with slender margin, in the past when TDP was in power.

Ask anyone on the street in the state - from Ichchapuram to Yellendu or Anakapally to Achampet – he or she will only say that Jagan and his mother’s victory is foregone conclusion. If the Congress conceded the defeat even before the polls by failing to find a strong and suitable candidate, then the TDP, which too more or less conceded the defeat, wanted try and increase their voting percentage by fielding a strong candidate like Dr Mysoora Reddy, who in fact, succeeded to neutralize YSR hold on the party to some extent as Home Minister, in the `scheme of things` of Congress veteran late Kotla Vijayabhaskara Reddy.

Meanwhile, the affidavit filed by YS Jaganmohanreddy along with his nomination papers has become another spicy matter for small screen discussions. While it came handy for the critics of Jagan as his declared assets crossed hundreds of crores of rupees, for the supporters it became hard nut to substantiate. However, one political observer said that everyone talks about corruption, but at the same time they don’t hesitate to cover corrupt people when it suits their needs. Is is also interesting to notice one caller questioning the moral right of the of the people who were participating in the debate to talk about corruption.

TRS violence ‘eclipse’ Mahanadu coverage!

Has the trouble that rocked the state following Kadapa MP Y S Jaganmohan Reddy’s “Odarpu Yatra” ‘eclipsed’ the deserved coverage to the two-day Mahanadu of Telugu Desam party?

It looks like so!  Telugu Desam party, which is considered as one of the major regional parties in India, and had a ‘major’ role to play in Indian politics, suffered worst due to media deviation on two incidents – Jagan’s arrest following trouble at Mahbubabad railway station and the Maoist blasting a train in West  Bengal  killing 80 persons.  Almost all the news channels of regional and national gave priority to these two incidents' coverage simultaneously, ignoring the importance that the TDP annual conclave indeed deserves.

Does the entire media in the country taken for a ride by a well-knit conspiracy hatched by the Congress and the separatist Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS)?  As far as the state Congress unit is concerned, it is a war like situation within the party as pro and anti-YSR groups clashes come in open.  Those who opposed to YSR had no courage to challenge him while he was alive.  Although, they used to air dissent note quite often, they were not taken seriously by the party high command as YSR enjoyed maximum support.  In fact, even the Opposition which hitherto used to blame a Congress-led government in the past of being ruled (read controlled) by Delhi leadership, had begun to accuse it was YSR who dictating terms to the party high command.  In other words, not only the main Opposition Telugu Desam, but also other parties in the state realized that YSR had become all powerful and worked towards his defeat ganging up in one form or the other during the last assembly elections held in 2009.

But, YSR, who established himself as ‘mass leader’ (may be after NTR) in Andhra politics could accept the Opposition parties united ‘platform’ to ensure his Congress party win second term in the state.  The TRS, which was born to fight for separate statehood, hobnobbed with the Congress in 2004 elections and later with the Opposition Telugu Desam Party under the banner of “Mahakutami” in 2009 elections, in a bid to improve its numerical strength in the state assembly. Ironically, it failed on both occasions.

But, the tragic death of a strong leader like YSR in chopper crash had come handy to the party which is fighting for separate statehood as well to the Opposition Telugu Desam, which is  ambitious to stage a come back.  But, the death of a strong leader like YSR had benefited the TRS more than the TDP as regional passions rocked almost all the major political parties.  Those, who stood like a rock in support of YSR, nip the separate statehood demand in the bud, slowly but steadily, came out in its support.  So has happened even in Telugu Desam and the party leadership had its compulsions in encouraging such a demand by its own members belonging to the region.

What has happened in the recent past to strengthen the cause is for every one of us to see.  The fast-unto death agitation by the TRS chief, the Centre’s initiative to begin the process for bifurcation with the Union Home Minister’s mid-night statement leading to KCR giving up his fast, and Chidambaram’s statement igniting fire in two other parts of the state – coastal Andhra and Rayalaseema – by integrationists, the unabated violence in the campuses of Osmania University (Hyderabad) and Kakatiya University (Warangal), all these developments helped to the advantage of TRS.  And, the Congress central leadership had to take the place for the continuance of political unrest in the state due to its short-sighted political initiatives. 

Since then the TRS spearheaded its violent movement, but restrained as the Congress constituted Justice BN Srikrishna Committee, giving an impression that it  had fulfilled its promises of beginning the process for state bifurcation by asking the panel to elicit view points of all stakeholders and submit its recommendations.  But, it would not like to leave an opportunity to create scare among the Central leadership on state bifurcation.  As part of that exercise, the TRS and its supportive organizations like T-JAC of Prof Kodandaram and the students JAC of OU and Kakatiya Universities, decided to derive maximum advantage of the Kadapa MP Y S Jaganmohan Reddy’s ‘Odarpu yatra’, in spite of his appeals not to see his visit to Warangal in political angle.

But, for TRS, the fear of the by-elections, which are scheduled to be held in next couple of months, become major concern and remain to be in news for some reason or the other.  The past experiences of ‘major set backs’ to that party in by-polls haunting TRS leadership like a shadow.  The party had no great hopes on getting a positive report from the ongoing Srikrishna panel.  This was evident from KCR’s veil threats of ‘civil war’  if the Committee submits negative report in December.  The recent Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh’s reported remarks on new states’ formation also become a major worrying factor to KCR and his party. The Prime Minister made it clear on the occasion of his government’s first anniversary that creation of smaller states is not in his party-led UPA coalition government's priorities.

Well, for whatever reasons, the TRS and its supporters might have chosen the path of confrontationist to prevent the Kadapa MP’s ‘Odarpu yatra’; it served their purpose for being in news yet again.  They proved that they indeed capable of creating a ‘civil war’ like situations.  At the same time, by knowingly or unknowingly also scored a ‘bonus’ point of pushing the main Opposition Telugu Desam from getting its due coverage on an important day like the party’s foundation day and its founder president N T Rama Rao’s birth day.

The same yard stick may be applied even in case of Y S Jaganmohan Reddy, who like his father, determined to build his career as strong ‘mass leader’ rather than count as one among many politicians sons.  Like his father, he understood that ‘credibility’ is the major factor in today’s politics to get people’s acceptance.  If his father chose the path and accomplished as ‘madama tippani neta’ (A man who will not go back on his promise), the young scion too appears gaining that acceptance.  His determination to go ahead with the “Odarpu Yatra’ in spite of the alleged party high command’s flat ‘no’ indeed helped the party more than it expected. 

If the state bifurcation issue has attained national importance with almost all major national channels running debates in their ‘prime time’ slots, so was Jaganmohan Reddy’s image. He now, has  become a national ‘hero’ for his dare-devil attempt as yesterday's incident let rest of the country’s population know how a committed leader he is to pay back the gratitude.(29-05-2010)

The “Odarpu Yatra” of the Kadapa MP, Y S Jaganmohan Reddy, appears to have not only sent shivers down the spines of the main Opposition Telugu Desam party, but also the former chief minister’s baiters, who successfully stalled the young scion ‘succession’ efforts after his father and former chief minister Dr Y S Rajasekhara Reddy’s death in a chopper crash..

Realizing possible opposition within the party’s rank and file, the young scion, in a calculated move, choose to take the nod of Chief Minister K Rosaiah as well the PCC Chief D Srinivas, besides the state’s political affairs in-charge and Union Law Minister Veerappa Moily, before taking up his “Odarpu Yatra’ (Consoling those who laid down or lost lives in the form of either ‘shock’ or ‘suicide’ on hearing the tragic news of his father and former chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy’s death in a chopper crash).

However, the programme had to be put off for a while due to political turmoil in the state over bifurcation issue. With dust being somewhat settled with the Centre constituting Srikrishna Committee to begin the ‘consultation’ process to accomplish ‘consensus’, Jagan too got clearance from the party higher ups to show his family’s gesture to all those died on hearing his father’s chopper crash news.

 His first-leg whirlwind four day tour of West Godavari proved to be a grand success with crowds milling at every of his meeting and all through the route he traveled. Though, he initially restrained himself not to talk politics, but the unprecedented crowds he drew made him speak about his father’s achievements. He described his late father first five-year tenure as ‘Swarna yugam’ (meaning golden era). He said his father, who strived for the uplift of poor, ensured all his schemes benefit them one way or the other. He vouched to strive for continuance of all those schemes.

The developments in the state congres during the post YSR era,made themain opposition TDP to expect intra squabbles within the Congress over the ‘succession’ issue will weaken the ruling party. The party was also quite happy for the Congress high command foisting K Rosaiah as Chief Minister, as they construed him as a ‘weak-knead’ leader.

That their calculations have gone hay-wire is evident from the fact that Rosaiah not only asserting himself and gaining control over the administration as day passes, but also the Jagan’s juggernaut receiving such tumultuous response, has become a major worrying factor.

Added to this, the Opposition TDP party is also pushed to the wall as it has to take a final call on the state’s bifurcation issue. In fact, the Telugu Deam party was born to promote unity of Telugus and protect their ‘self-respect.’ But, today, the party, like congress, is virtually divided on state’s bifurcation issue and while one section supports the ‘separate statehood for Telangana”, the other group strongly voicing for “integrated’ state.

Well, state bifurcation issue might have taken back seat for few more months as the Srikrishna Committee has begun the process, but with the by elections to 12 assembly constituencies which fell vacant due to the resignations of Telangana Rastra Samiti and Praja Rajyam, besides lone BJP member resigning, due sometime later, indeed put Naidu in a ‘fix’. If Jagan continue to get same response from the people in Telangana as he started distributing Rs 1 lakh compensation to each bereaved family, then even it may pose a serious threat to even TRS. Though the TRS has expressed its opposition to Jagan touring Telangana, can it stop its people from losing the benefit of compensation from Jagan? That’s the million dollar question only time will tell.

As far as Jagan is concerned, he got a great opportunity to travel length and breathe of the state under the ‘garb’ of ‘Odarpu Yatra’ to move closer to masses and win their hearts. Whether the slogans being rented air during his ‘yatra’ will be heard by the party high command or not, but he can boast of emerging himself as a mass leader like his father. Neither any one in Congress, nor in the Opposition could boast of such a claim. Chiranjeevi may be an exception as his yesteryear’s ‘mega star’ craze somewhat in tact.(13-04-2010)

హెలి కాఫ్టర్ దుర్ఘటనలో రాజశేఖర్ రెడ్డిగారు మరణించి రెండు వారాలు గడచి పోయాయి. మొదటి రెండు మూడు రోజులు- తెలుగునాట ’మీడియా’ నిర్వహించిన పాత్ర అభినందనీయం. ఇప్పుడు మీడియా అనే పదాన్ని పత్రికలకు, టెలివిజన్ ఛానెళ్ళకు అన్వయించి విస్తృతార్ధంలో వాడుతున్నారు. ఈ రెండు మాథ్యమాలు - దుర్ఘటన్ గురించిన సవివరమైన సమాచారాన్ని ప్రజలకు ఎప్పటికప్పుడు తెలియజెప్పటానికి శక్తివంచన లేకుండా పాటుపడ్డాయి. దుర్గమారణ్యంలో వాగులు, వంకలు కాలి నడకన దాటుకుంటూ వెళ్ళి - సమాచార సేకరణలో తెలుగు జర్నలిజాన్ని కొత్త పుంతలు తొక్కించాయి. స్థానిక ఛానెళ్ళు చిత్రీకరించిన దృశ్యాలనే అనేక జాతీయ, అంతర్జాతీయ ఛానెళ్ళు ఉపయోగించుకున్న తీరే ఇందుకు నిదర్శనం. ఇంతవరకు తెలుగు మిడియా నిర్వహించిన పాత్రను కొనియాడితిరవలసిందే.అయితే, క్రమేపీ రాజశేఖరరెడ్డి గారు జివించి ఉన్నప్పటి - అంటే గత రెండు మూడేళ్ళ కాలంగా జనం గమనిస్తూ వచ్చిన అంశాలే మళ్ళీ మీడియాలో చోటు చేసుకుంటూ వస్తున్నాయి. ఇది దురదృష్టకర పరిణామం.

పదవిలో ఉంటూ ఒక ముఖ్యమంత్రి చనిపోవడం అన్నది మన రాష్టానికి సంబంధించినంతవరకు ఇదే ప్రథమం. గతంలో కాంగ్రెస్ హయాంలో ముఖ్యమంత్రులను మార్చిన సందర్భాలకు, ప్రస్తుత సన్నివేశానికి హస్తి మశకాంతరం తేడా ఉంది. చనిపోయిన వ్యక్తి సాక్షాత్తూ ముఖ్యమంత్రి. అందునా రాజశేఖర రెడ్డి. వ్యక్తిత్వ శోభతో, నాయకత్వ పటిమతో, దీక్షా దక్షతలతో రాష్ట్ర కాంగ్రెస్ రాజకీయాల్లో తనదైన ముద్రవేసి పార్టీ అధిష్టానాన్ని సైతం ప్రభావితం చేసిన ప్రతిభాశాలి. ఆయన లేని లోటును ఊహించడం ఆషామాషీ వ్యవహారం కాదు. వై.ఎస్సార్ మృతితో రాష్ట్రం యావత్తూ దిగ్భ్రాంతికి గురయ్యింది. జనం చేష్టలుడిగి పోయారు. సొంత మనిషి మరణించినట్టుగా తెలుగు నాట ప్రతి ఇంటా విషాద చాయలు అలముకున్నాయి. ’వై.ఎస్సార్ ఇక లేరు’ అన్న దారుణ వార్త జీర్ణించుకోలేక దాదాపు మూడు వందలపై చిలుకు అభిమానులు, ఆపన్నులు గుండె పగిలి చనిపోవడం, ఆత్మహత్యలు చేసుకోవడం జరిగిందంటే - ఈ దుర్ఘటన ప్రజలను ఏ స్థాయిలో ఏరకంగా కలచివేసిందో తేలిగ్గా అర్ధం చేసుకోవచ్చు.
ఈ నేపథ్యంలో కాంగ్రెస్ అధిష్టానం ముందుగా తేరుకుని తక్షణ కర్తవ్యానికి నడుం బిగించింది. రాజశేఖరరెడ్డి మంత్రివర్గంలో వయసు రీత్యా అనుభవం రీత్యా అత్యంత సీనియర్ అయిన రోశయ్య గారికి ముఖ్యమంత్రిగా బాధ్యతలు అప్పగించింది.

వై.ఎస్సార్ మంత్రి మండలిలోని ఇతర మంత్రుల చేత కూడా మరోసారి ప్రమాణ స్వీకారం చేయించి అవే శాఖలు అప్పగించి ప్రభుత్వ యంత్రాంగ నిర్వహణ సజావుగా సాగిపోయేందుకు ఏర్పాటు చేసింది.

రోశయ్య గారికి సంబంధించినంతవరకు ఇది అయాచిత పదవి. ముఖ్యమంత్రిగా పదవీ స్వీకారం చేసిన తరువాత కూడా పలుకులో, నడవడికలో ఏ మాత్రం మార్పు లేదు.ఆయన తొలిసారి మంత్రి అయినపుడు ఐ.ఏ.ఎస్., ఐ.పి.ఎస్ ప్రొఫెషనర్లుగా రాష్ట్ర సర్వీసులో ప్రవేశించిన అధికారులు - ఆయన కళ్ళముందే ప్రభుత్వ ప్రధాన కార్యదర్శులుగా డీ.జీ.పీగా ఎదిగారు. రాష్ట్రస్థాయిలోను, జిల్లా స్థాయిలోనూ అధికారులను పేరుతో పిలిచి గుర్తుపట్టగల సుదీర్ఘ అనుభవం ఆయనది. పోతే ఫైళ్ళూ,ప్రోజెక్టులు, నిధులు, జమాఖర్చులు కొట్టిన పిండి. అసాధారణ శక్తితో, ప్రసంగాలతోనే ప్రత్యర్ధుల గుండెల్ని పీల్చి పిప్పిచేయగల ప్రతిభా సామర్ధ్యాలు ఆయన సొంతం.

రాజశేఖరరెడ్డి మంత్రివర్గంలో ఆర్ధిక మంత్రిగా - వై.ఎస్సార్ చేపట్టిన అనేక సంక్షేమ, అభివృద్ధి పథకాలు, ప్రాజెక్టుల గురించి రోశయ్య గారికి సంపూర్ణమైన సదవగాహన ఉంది. పైపెచ్చు వైఎస్సార్ కి అత్యంత ఆత్మీయుడు. అందుకే ముఖ్యమంత్రిగా ఆయనని ఎంపిక చేస్తూ అధిష్టానం తీసుకున్న నిర్ణయం. కాంగ్రెస్ వర్గాలను అంతగా కలవరపరచలేదు.అలాగే మంత్రుల సహాయ నిరాకరణ గురించి మీడియాలో కుప్పలు తెప్పలుగా వస్తున్న కథనాలను చూసి రోశయ్యగారు కూడా కలవర పడిన దాఖలాలు లేవు.కాబట్టే అప్పగించిన బాధ్యతలను శక్తి మేరకు నిర్వహించేందుకే ఆయన కృషి చేస్తున్నారు.
 కాగా, రాజశేఖర్ రెడ్డి గారికి నిజమైన రాజకీయ వారసుడు ఆయన కుమారుడైన జగన్ మోహన్ రెడ్డే కావాలనివై.ఎస్సార్ ని అభిమానించే వారు కోరుకోవడం అత్యంత సహజం. వై.ఎస్సార్ సంక్షేమ పథకాల వల్ల లబ్ధి పొందిన లక్షలాది మంది పేద ప్రజలు కూడా అందుకు మద్దతు పలకడం అంతే సహజం. అయితే జగన్ కు ఆశించిన రీతిలో అధిష్టానం మద్దతు దొరకడం లేదన్న విషయాన్ని గోరంతను కొండంతలుగా చేసి జనంలోకి తీసుకువెళ్లాడంలో మీడియా నిర్వహించిన పాత్రను కొందరు తప్పుపడుతున్నారు. జగన్ కు అనుకూలంగా మీడియాలోని ఒక వర్గం ఎంత గట్టిగా పనిచేస్తున్నదో, జగన్ కు వ్యతిరెకంగా మరొక వర్గం అంతే పట్టుదలతో పనిచేస్తున్నదని కాంగ్రెస్ రాజకీయాలను ఔపోసన పట్టిన సీనియర్ పాత్రికేయులు ప్రైవేటు సంభాషణల్లో పేర్కొంటున్నారు.

రాష్ట్ర కాంగ్రెస్ రాజకీయాల్లో అధిష్టానం బూచిని చూపించి ప్రత్యర్ధులను బెదిరించే సంస్కృతికి రాజశేఖర్ రెడ్డి హయాంలోనే నూకలు చెల్లిపోయాయి.ఒంటి చేత్తో కాంగ్రెస్ పార్టీకి సాధించి పెట్టిన విజయం దరిమిలా ఆయన్ని వేలెత్తి చూపగల చేవ, పన్నెత్తి ప్రశ్నించగల సత్తా పార్టీలో కొరవడింది. కాంగ్రెస్ అధ్యక్షురాలు సోనియాగాంధీ అనుసరిస్తూవస్తున్ననూతన దిశానిర్దేశనం కూడా దీనికి దొహదం చేస్తోంది.

మొదటి అయిదు సంవత్సరాల పదవీ కాలంలో అధిష్టానం వద్ద వై.ఎస్సార్ మాటే చెల్లుబడి అవుతూ వచ్చింది. దానితో రాష్ట్ర స్థాయిలో పార్టీలోని ఆయన ప్రత్యర్dహుల విమర్శలు, ఆరోపణలు ఒక స్థాయికి పరిమితం కావడం మాత్రమే కాకుండా క్రమేపీ వారి ఉనికే ప్రశ్నార్ధకంగా మారింది. రాజశేఖర రెడ్డి గారి అకాల మరణం తరువాత అసమ్మతి శక్తులు మళ్ళీ పుంజుకుంటాయని చాలామంది భావించారు. కానీ ఆయన ఆకస్మిక మృతి వల్ల రాష్ట్రవ్యాప్తంగా పెల్లుబుకిన భావోద్వేగాల నేపథ్యంలో అసమ్మతి స్వరాలు అంతరంగాలకే పరిమితం అయ్యాయి. దాంతో జగన్ ని ముఖ్యమంత్రి చేయాలన్న డిమాండ్ తప్ప జగన్ కి వ్యతిరేకంగా చేతులు కలిపి, బహిరంగంగా ముఠా కట్టి వాదం వినిపించగల వాళ్ళు లేకుండా పోయారు.

రాజశేఖర రెడ్డి మరణానంతర పరిణామాలను శ్రద్ధగా గమనిస్తున్న ప్రతి పక్షాలు కూడా పైకి పెదవి విప్పడం లేదు. ఆ పార్టీ అంతర్గత వ్యవహారాలని వాటితో తమకు సంబంధం లేదని పేర్కొంటున్నాయి. కానీ రాజశేఖర రెడ్డి మృతికి కొన్ని వారాల ముందు తమ పార్టీలను నిర్వీర్యం చేసే లక్ష్యంతో ఆపరేషన్ ఆకర్ష్హ్ ని వై.ఎస్సార్ అమలు చేస్తున్నారని

ఆయా పార్టీలు చేసిన ఆరోపణలను స్ఫురణకు తెచ్చుకుంటే కాంగ్రెస్ పార్టీలోపరిణామాల పట్ల అవి నిర్లిప్తంగా ఉంటాయనుకోలేము. అలాగని బహిరంగ వ్యాఖ్యానలకు కానీ లేదా కాంగ్రెస్ పార్టీలో ప్రస్తుత పరిణామాలను తమ రాజకియ అవసరాలకి అనుగుణంగా మార్చుకునే ప్రయత్నాలు చేస్తాయని కూడా భావించడం పొరపాటే అవుతుంది. కాకపొతే వై.ఎస్సార్ స్థానంలో ఆయన కుమారుడు జగన్ ముఖ్యమంత్రి కావడం ప్రతిపక్షాలకు ప్రధానంగా తెలుగు దేశం పార్టీకి మింగుడు పడకపోవచ్చు. రాజశేఖర్ రెడ్డి వారసుడిగా జగన్ కూడ తన తండ్రి బాటలోనే అదే విధమైన రాజకీయ ఎత్తుగడలను కొనసాగించే అవకాశం ఉంటుందని ఆ పార్టీ అంతర్లీనంగా
సందేహపడే వీలుంది.జగన్ కాకపోతే చాలు అన్న అభిప్రాయం ఆ పార్టీ శ్రేణుల్లో ఉన్నట్టు భోగట్టా.

అయితే రాజశేఖర రెడ్డి వంటి మహోన్నత వ్యక్తి మరణించిన వెంటనే ఆయన రాజకీయ వారసత్వానికి సంబంధించి రకరకాల కథనాలు, విశ్లెషణలు మీడియాలో తామర తంపరలుగా వెలువడుతూ ఉండటాన్ని సామాన్య జనం జీర్ణించుకోలేకపోతున్నారు. ఇన్ని దశాబ్దాల రాజకీయ జీవితంలో ఏనాడూ పన్నెత్తి మాట్లాడని కె.వి.పి.సైతం గాంధిభవన్ సమావేశంలో చెలరేగిన ఆవేశకావేశాలను సద్దుమణిగెలా చేసేందు ఉద్వేగంగానే కాకుండా సుదీర్ఘ్హ పోరాటం చేయడం ఒక కొసమెరుపు.

ఈ పరిణామాలను జగన్ వర్గానికి వ్యతిరేకంగా మార్చడానికి కొన్ని శక్తులు ప్రయత్నించడం సహజం. ఈ ప్రయత్నాలకు మీడియాలోని ఒక వర్గం సహకరిస్తోందన్నది తాజాగా వినిపిస్తున్న ఆరోపణ. కొన్ని పత్రికల్లో వస్తున్న కథనాలు ఇందుకు ఉదాహరణలుగా ఇ ఆరోపణలు చేస్తున్నవారు పేర్కొంటున్నారు. జగన్ కు అనుకూలంగా పార్టీ అధిష్టానానికి చెందిన ఒక సీనియర్ నాయకుడు ఉత్తరాది పత్రిక ఒక దానికిచ్చిన ఇంటర్వ్యూలోని అంశాలను యథాతథంగా తర్జుమా చేసి ప్రచురించిన ఒక తెలుగు దినపత్రిక - అలా మాట్లాడినందుకు ఆ నాయకుడిపై పార్టీ అధిష్టానం తీవ్ర ఆగ్రహాన్ని వ్యక్తం చేసిందంటూ ఆ కథనాన్ని ప్రారంభించిన వైనాన్నివారు ఉదహరిస్తున్నారు. కె.వి.పి. ఢిల్లీయాత్రల గురించీ, అధిష్టానం తీరు తెన్నుల గురించి ఊహాగానాలు చేస్తూ మీడియాలోవెలువడుతున్న కథనాలలోని నిబద్ధతను వారు ప్రశ్నిస్తున్నారు.జగన్ కాకపోతే కాంగ్రెస్ లో ఎవరైనా పర్వాలేదన్న పద్ధతిలో మీడియాలో ఒక వర్గం పనికట్టుకుని ప్రచారం చేస్తోందన్నది ఆ ఆరోపణలోని సారాంశం.రాజశేఖర రెడ్డి పత్రికలలోని విశ్వసనీయతని పదే పదే ప్రశ్నిస్తూ ప్రజల్లో తమ పత్రికల పట్ల గౌరవాదరాలు తగ్గిపోయేలా చేశాయన్న కినుకతో ఉన్నపత్రికాధిపతులే ప్రస్తుతం అందివచ్చిన అవకాశాన్ని ఇలా వాడుకుంటున్నారన్న ఆరోపణలు కూడా వారి మాటల్లో తొంగిచూస్తోంది.పత్రికల విశ్వసనీయత పట్ల రాజశేఖర్ రెడ్డి హయాంలో తలెత్తిన నీలినీడలు ఆయన అస్తమయం తర్వాత కారుమబ్బులుగా పరిణమించిడం విషాదం.

గతంలో కాంగ్రెస్ ముఖ్యమంత్రులు ఎవ్వరూ చేయలేని సాహసాన్ని - మీడియాలో ఒక వర్గంపై విమర్శలు గుప్పించడం ద్వారా రాజశేఖర రెడ్డి ప్ర్దదర్శించారు.అక్షరంపై ప్రారంభమైన దాడిగా కొందరు విశ్లేషకులు అభివర్ణించారు. అయినా వై.ఎస్సార్ తన సహజ స్వభావానికి తగ్గట్టుగానే ఏ మాత్రం వెనుకంజవేయలేదు.పైపెచ్చు తన విమర్శలకు మరింత పదును జోడించారు. పత్రికల్లో పనిచేసేవారిని, పత్రికలు నడిపే వారిని విడదీసి చూపిస్తూ పత్రికా స్వేచ్చకి తనదైన భాష్యం చెప్పారు.
ఆయన ఇప్పుడు లేరు. తిరిగి రారు. ఇది కఠోర సత్యం.

పత్రికలకు, మీడియాకి విమర్శించే హక్కు ఉంది. నిజాన్ని నిర్భయంగా చెప్పాల్సిన ధర్మం ఉంది.ఎవరికో కొమ్ము కాస్తున్నారన్న ఆరోపణలు లేశ మాత్రం కూడా తలెత్తకుండా పత్రికలను నడపాల్సిన పవిత్ర భాద్యత కూడా వారి భుజస్కంథాలపై ఉంది. ఈ బాధ్యతని సమర్ధంగా, విశ్వసనీయంగా,నిరూపిస్తున్నామని నిరూపించుకోడానికి ఇదే సరైన తరుణం.
ఒక వ్యక్తి ముఖ్యమంత్రి లేదా ప్రధానమంత్రి కావడం వలన సమాజంలోని కొన్ని వర్గాలకు ప్రయోజనం కలగవచ్చు. లేదా ఇబ్బందులు ఎదుర్కోవాల్సి రావచ్చు.
