నేనెవరు ?

ఈ ప్రశ్నకు జవాబు చెప్పలేక మహామహులే గింగిరాలు తిరిగిపోయారు. ఫేస్ బుక్ లో చాలామంది పర్సనల్ మెసేజ్ లు పెడుతుంటారు, మీరెవరు, ఏమిటి మీ కధాకమామిషు అని. ఎంతైనా సొంత డబ్బా కాస్త కష్టం కదా! అందుకని ఎప్పుడో రేడియో స్వర్ణోత్సవాల సమయంలో నా గురు పత్నీ పుత్రిక అనగా తురగా కృష్ణమోహనరావుగారి సతీమణి తురగా జానకీ రాణి తనయ, నా రేడియో రోజుల సహోద్యోగి తురగా ఉషారమణి నా గురించి రాసిన ఈ ఆంగ్ల పరిచయ వాక్యాలు గుర్తుకు వచ్చాయి. అవే ఇవి. అయితే నా మీది అభిమానంతో ఉత్ప్రేక్షా లంకారాలు వాడింది. వాటిని మినహాయించుకుని చదువుకోమని వినతి.

“Bhandaru Srinivasa Rao is the best-known reporter among those who have put in a long innings with AIR and has dedicated his life to adapting radio news to the changing communication needs across the decades,
          “He began his career as a newspaper journalist in 1970, working as sub-editor in Andhra Jyothy, a Telugu Daily News Paper, published from Vijayavada and joined AIR, Hyderabad  in 1975 where he made an indelible mark on the traditions of radio reporting.

          “An Indian Information Service officer, he believes that working with All India Radio has given him much greater exposure in reporting and helped him hone his skills as a reporter for a public broadcaster. He used to present the News Reel programme twice a week and got excellent  response and recognition as  presenter of  the popular human interest news bulletin ‘JeevanaSravanthi” (జీవనస్రవంతి}
          “He considers his stint as Telugu Language specialist with Radio Moscow as the real ‘break’ in his career, when AIR sent him on an assignment to one of the most powerful broadcasting organizations of the world, in the then Soviet Union. He subsequently captured his Moscow experiences in a book entitled ‘Maarpu Choosina Kallu’ (మార్పు చూసిన కళ్ళు- ‘The Eyes that Witnessed Change”).

 After spending almost five years in Moscow , he returned to India and rejoined RNU, AIR, Hyderabad . He subsequently moved to Doordarshan where he retired on superannuation in December, 2005.

          “Bhandaru Srinivasa Rao says it was a dream come true for him to work for All India Radio, it was not a mere job but a profession with passion. He has interviewed many eminent personalities including Mother Teresa. He remembers with fondness and pride all the years he spent reporting, editing, reading and broadcasting radio news. Especially the occasion when he had the unique opportunity of accompanying the then prime minister Mr. Rajiv Gandhi during his tour of flood-affected areas in Khammam district. The dynamic prime minister suddenly jumped out of the jeep and went off on an impromptu inspection of the living conditions of the tribal people in the Chintoor forest. The Prime Minister’s move caused sensation then as the area was Naxalite infested and the Prime Minister paid no heed to his own security. Srinivas Rao  reported the entire episode exclusively  to AIR. He narrated the incident in his own style under the title “అడవి బాటలో రాజీవ్ గాంధి” in a book- “Story Behind the News” (“వార్తల వెనుక కధ”), edited by eminent journalists Shri K.Ramachandra Murthy, Editorial Director, Saakshi) and Shri Katta Sekhar Reddy (Editor, Namaste Telangana).

“After retirement also Bhandaru Srinivasarao continued the profession by writing weekly column (సూటిగా.....సుతిమెత్తగా....) in a  telugu  daily news paper “SURYA” for the last several years besides participating in debates and discussions of various TV channels daily.”
